A very special Antique Silver WAX JACK Candle stand, willow light, sconce candlestick.

The Wax Jack was first introduced in 1700.

Before that, a simple taper was used in a loose ball.

Despite the resemblance to a candle, they were not used for lighting.

While common in England and Europe, they were not widely used in North America. [4]

Most of the early Wax-Jacks were worked by silversmiths, although later models can also be found in other metals such as iron, brass or bell metal.

This WAX JACK comes from Spain, made around 1795-97, with the silver hallmarks at the bottom of the base
